College of Optical Science and Engineering, Zhejiang University has two post-doctoral mobile stations, namely, “Optical Engineering” and “Instrument Science and Technology”, two doctoral programs(Optical Engineering, Metrology and Measurement Technology and Instruments), three master degree programs(Optical Engineering, Metrology and Measurement Technology and Instruments, Optical Communication Technology). The Optical Engineering is the state Class I key discipline and the Metrology and Measurement Technology and Instruments is the key discipline of Zhejiang Province. The College has set up a complete talent training system for bachelors, masters, doctors and post-doctors, and has National State Key Laboratory of Modern Optical Instrumentation, National Engineering Research Center of Optical Instrumentation and the first National Defense Key Discipline Laboratory in Zhejiang University. It ranked 1st in the class I discipline evaluation organized by the Ministry of Education of China in 2007. 

Optical Engineering
College of Optical Science and Engineering, Zhejiang University is one of the first-batch “Optical Engineering “master degree granting units approved by the State Council. It was approved to grant the Philosophy Doctor Degree in 1984, and has set up optical engineering post-doctoral mobile station in 1988 which was rewarded as the national excellent post-doctoral research station in 2005. Rely on the State Key Laboratory of Modern Optical Instrumentation and National Engineering Research Center of Optical Engineering, combines the advantages of traditional optical engineering, the courses in this program include: new photo-electricity instrument technology research focusing on microminiaturization, multiple array, integrated optoelectronic, hybrid device and system; research on photo-electronic thin films, devices and display technology; research on optical communication devices, technology and artificial optical crystal and research on modern optical imaging and new bio-photon detection technology, etc.
There are 31 professors, 24 doctoral supervisors, 48 associate professors wok in the college. They are now undertaking the national natural science foundation key projects, general projects and many other states and provincial or ministry level projects, such as “973” and “863”, and have won several prizes from provincial technology results. The annual research funding is more than 35,000,000 Yuan. This course absorbs almost 60 master degree candidates and 20 doctor degree candidates every year. 
 
Sensors and Instrumentation
The courses in this program contains photo-electronic ultra-precise detection, fiber optical sensors, light radiation measurement, photo-electronic micro/ test and processing, environment detection and research on biological medical instrument, etc. It ranks leading position on optical fiber gyro, micro-optics and light radiation measurement.
There are 8 professors (doctoral supervisors), and 15 associate professors wok in this group. They are now undertaking the national natural science foundation and national defense 863 key projects, “863” projects, provincial technology projects, etc. and have won three prizes from national and provinces and published more than 60 SCI and EI indexed papers. The annual research funding is more than 10,000,000 Yuan. This program enrolls almost 20 master degree candidates and 8 doctor degree candidates every year.
