CategorySpeciality
PrerequisitesFiber-Optic Communication Technology
AudienceSenior undergraduate students
Teaching mannerTaught in bilingual
Course objectives and basic requirements:
This course aims to provide a practical training in designing and operation of an optical communication system following the study of course “Fiber-Optic Communication Technology”, with an emphasis on construction of new connections of a given network, connection failure protection and fast recovery. The course requires that students gain a basic knowledge in utilizing a commercial system design software, e.g. OptiSystem and learn to apply the software in designing and analysis of typical WDM systems.
Course introduction:
As a following-up course of its prerequisite class “Fiber-optic Communication Technology”, it provides students with a systematic training on design of fiber optic communication systems. The emphasis of the course is placed on construction of WDM systems, a prevailing configuration in modern applications, associated with the system performance evaluation, testing, and experimental measurement for typical examples.
