Course No:11194210
Title:Color Information Engineering
Class Hours/Week: 1.5 - 1 Credit:2
Category:Specialized
Prerequisites: Physics
Audience:Undergraduates
Teaching manner:Multimedia
Course objectives and basic requirements:
Upon studying of this course, the students should understand the basic concepts about light and color. They will learn the elemental theory and basic knowledge of CIE standard colorimetric systems, CIE uniform color spaces and color-difference evaluation, color order systems, and color prediction and reproduction. The students should master the fundamental principle of color measurement and the design method of color measurement instruments. This course will train the students to the ability of using the color theory and technology to solve the actual problem of optical radiation test and color information management in industrial applications and academic research.
Course introduction:
In this course, the basic concepts about light and color and the elemental theory of CIE standard colorimetric systems, CIE uniform color spaces and color-difference evaluation, color order systems, and color prediction and reproduction are systematically described. Then the fundamental principle of color measurement and the design method of color measurement instruments are introduced in detail. Finally the applications of color information technology are discussed in industrial and academic areas such as color television, color photography and printing, color lighting signal, computer color matching, and color information management.
