Course objectives and basic requirements:
This is a practical training course for a period of three weeks in short semester. The course is designed to provide students with a good knowledge of CAD (Computer Aided Design) software and its application in engineering design. It is mainly structured around the computer aided scientific computing, electrical design automation and computer aided mechanical design. The corresponding online experiment is also included in its Lab Session. Students who complete the course should be able to demonstrate the elementary abilities of engineering design with the CAD tools
Course introduction:
3 CAD application tools and its application and design training are introduced: Scientific computing tool MATLab, electric design automation tool Protel and computer aided design tool AutoCAD. Practical labs and experiments are also included.

1.Scientific Computing and Modeling Tools Matlab
 (1) Introducing of Matlab, installation and Development Environment features     ( 1 lectures)
 (2) Basic numerics & matrix operation, curve fitting, data analyse                      ( 2 lectures)
 (3) Digital signal processing, integral and differential eaquation                           ( 2 lectures)
 (4) Symbolic math; symbolic matrix and eaquation; 2D,3D graphics                   ( 2 lectures)
 (5) Image processing                                                                                     ( 1 lectures)
 (6) Modeling Tools – Simulink                                                                        ( 2 lectures)

 3.Application of Computer Aided Design on Mechanism                                                                   
(1) General situation of CAD and brief introduction on AutoCAD.                         ( 2 lectures)
(2) Draw, edit, dimension, hatch, plot, view and block of 2D drawing.                  ( 2 lectures)
(3) Modeling and edit of 3D surface drawing and 3D solid .                                  ( 2 lectures)
(4) Design center of AutoCAD , application for Internet , user-defined AutoCAD
   and particular analysis of all-around example.                                                    (2 lectures)
(5) Introduce of second empolder tool of fourth era -ActiveX Automation programme
   system.                                                                                                        ( 2 lectures)

(1) Installing of AutoCAD software.                                                                   ( 2 lectures)
(2) Exact draw using all kinds of 2D drawing commands.                                     ( 2 lectures)
(3) Drawing of 3D surface and solid.                                                                  ( 4 lectures)

The final grad is depend on 3 parts from experiment reports
