On March 11, 2022, Prof. Dai Daoxin, Dean of COSE and his team of 8 people went to Zhejiang University Eye Hospital (Eye Center, Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University, School of Medicine) for inspection. The two sides conducted in-depth exchanges on further medical-engineering cooperation. Yao Ke, President of Zhejiang University Eye Hospital, head of various subspecialties and key ophthalmological laboratories, and Prof. Liu Dong, Vice Dean of COSE, attended the inspection.
Yao Ke warmly welcomed Prof. Dai’s team and accompanied him to visit the Optometry Center, Refractive Surgery Center, Special Inspection Center, Telemedicine Center and Microsurgery Training Center. Then, he introduced the development history, discipline construction and future planning of the hospital, and said that optics and ophthalmology had a natural connection and played an important role in the design principles and applications of ophthalmic medical equipment. He also stressed that in-depth multi-dimensional and multi-level cross-research would open up new directions for the development of their respective disciplines.
Prof. Dai Daoxin introduced the basic situation of COSE. He pointed out that the optical engineering discipline had always attached great importance to the research on the intersection of optics and life science, and COSE had established Laser and Bio-medical Institute to encourage cross-discipline research. Optics and ophthalmology had a high degree of convergence, and the two sides had a lot of space for cooperation. It was hoped that the two sides would actively plan and solidly promote the original innovation and technological changes in the field of optics and ophthalmology through the establishment of cooperation research groups, forming a batch of innovative achievements. At the same time, it was also expected that the two sides could carry out in-depth cooperation in personnel training and resource sharing.
Liu Dong, Vice Dean of COSE, introduced the situation of COSE in detail from the aspects of party building work, faculty, academic training, scientific research, and social services. He Sailing, Kuang Cuifang, Huang Tengchao, Qian Jun and Li Peng shared their respective research fields and innovative ideas of medical-industrial cooperation. The two sides conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on the direction and needs of intended cooperation, and the development of ophthalmic medical equipment.
Zhejiang University Eye Hospital is a large-scale modern ophthalmology center integrating medical treatment, teaching and scientific research. Its comprehensive strength has been ranked first tier in the country for many years. This inspection and exchange focused on the medical-industrial cooperation requirements that were vigorously promoted, deepened mutual understanding, and expanded ideas for the subsequent in-depth cooperation between the two sides.
