Congratulations! Prof. Daoxin Dai from COSE was honored with 2022 Optica Fellow

Nov19

Recently, Optica (former OSA) announced the list of new 2022 Optica Fellows. 106 researchers from 24 countries were elected as Optica Fellows. Prof. Daoxin Dai from COSE, Zhejiang University, was elected for his significant contributions to advanced passive silicon photonic devices.

Optica Fellow is the highest academic honor awarded to experts in this field by Optica (formerly OSA). Founded in 1916, the society is an authoritative international academic organization in the field of optics. Its purpose is to promote the development and application of knowledge of optics and photonics and its widespread dissemination throughout the world. In addition to the fields of optics and photonics, it also provides high-level information services for experts and scholars in other fields such as physics, biology, medicine, electrical engineering, communications, astronomy, meteorology, materials science, mechanical engineering, and computer science. Every year, the society selects scholars with outstanding achievements and leadership in the field of optics to award the title of Optica Fellow in recognition of their major contributions to the development of optics and photonics.

Prof. Daoxin Dai now is currently serving as Dean of COSE, Zhejiang University. He is the Qiushi Distinguished Professor/Doctoral Supervisor, winner of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars (2017) and Project Leader of the National Key R&D Program (2019). He is also the chief editor of the SCI journal Optical and Quantum Electronics published by Springer Nature.

Prof. Dai has been committed to the research of high-performance and high-integration silicon optical devices and their applications. He presided over the national key R&D programs. A series of important progresses have been made in silicon-based on-chip polarization manipulation, silicon multi-mode photonics, silicon-based heterogeneous integration, silicon-based optical modulation, and optical detection. He published more than 230 papers (including more than 20 review/ invited articles) in journals such as Nature, Nature Comm, Light Sci. Appl, Phys. Rev. Lett., Laser Photon. Rev. His papers ware cited more than 13,000 times. He was selected into Elsevier's " Most Cited Chinese Researchers" in 2014-2021. He has given conference reports at the Chinese Optical Society Academic Conference, top conferences, American OFC, and other tutorials/keynotes/invited reports for more than 100 times. Prof. Daoxin Dai has severed as a program committee member or chair on several top international conferences, like ACP 2018/2021, etc. He won the first prize of Optical Science and Technology of the Chinese Optical Society (2020), the Wang Daheng Optical Award (2020), the first prize of Zhejiang Natural Science (2020) as well as other awards and honors.
