In the recent 19th Election of World Academy of Ceramics, Prof. Jianrong Qiu of our college was elected as the Academician of World Academy of Ceramics through a strict nomination and independent selection process. He will be officially awarded the certificate at the first session of the 2022 World Academy of Ceramics Annual Forum held in Montecatini Terme, Italy during June 20-29, 2022.
Prof. Qiu’s research interests is photonic materials and devices. In recent years, he has been mainly engaged in the interaction of lasers and materials (ultrafast laser manufacturing and laser 3D printing), luminescence and nonlinear optical materials, and has achieved a series of influential research results. He was awarded the Otto-Schott Research Award of the Abbe Foundation of Germany and the Morey Award of the American Ceramic Society. He is also selected as OSA Fellow and ACerS Fellow.
The World Academy of Ceramics was established in 1987 to promote the progress and interdisciplinary integration of global ceramic science. The academicians of the World Academy of Ceramics are all individuals who have made outstanding contributions and achievements in the field of ceramic science. It’s the highest honor in the field of ceramic science. Since its establishment, the total number of academicians of the World Academy of Ceramics has remained within 200.
