NACourse objectives and basic requirements:

The course is designed for the graduate students to understand the basic theory, principle and concepts of the opto-electronic display technology, know the development trend and their advantages of different display technologies, learn the basic design and caluculation mathod of the display system and their parameters. The course will give the students the basic knowledge for their further studies on display technology or to use display technology in other research area. 

The students should:

Understand the theory and basic principles of display technologies.

Know the basic concepts and difinitions of the parameters in display technology

Learn to disign the basic display system and calculate the parameters of display unit.

Course introduction: 
 

The course is prepared to introduce the principles of the main display technology. The main content of the course is: 1) The development of the display technology. 2) The concept of the brightness, contrast, flux, resolution, gray scale, etc. in display. 3) Color and Gamma correction. Mainly introduce the expression of color, color coordinate, color space of the monitor, color coding in the video signal and the Gamma correction of the display system. 4) The principles of the electric gun, scanning coil, phosphor powder and the picture tube in CRT display. 5) Liquid crystal display. Mainly introduce the physical properties of the liquid crystal, the calculation method of the liquid crystal electro- optic property, alignment method and LCD driver. 6) PDP technology, include the principle of the gas discharge and some plasma display technology. 7) Electroluminescence, LED and OLED display. 8) Projection display., include the principle of CRT projection, laser projection and microdisplay projection. The design method of the optical projection system is mainly introduced.
