Course objectives and basic requirements:
The course is designed for the graduate students to understand the basic theories of micro-structured optics and design of micro-systems, know the application and future of micro-optics and micro-system, in order to provide a good foundation for graduate students to further their research in micro-optics.
The students should:
1.master fundamental theories of micro-structured optics;
2.know micro-fabrication technology;
3.know theory and application of micro-systems.

Course introduction:
The course is prepared to introduce the fundamental theories and technology of micro-optics and micro-system consists of following five parts:1.Evolution and development of micro-optics and micro-systems. 2. Binary optics and micro-optics mainly including the principle of binary optics, analysis of diffractive optical element and hybrid optical systems. 3.Theory and application of micro-systems mainly including micro-system’s design and fabrication. 4. Micro-transducers in optical communications mainly including AWG and LD, etc. 5. Micro-fabrication and measurements.
