In recent years, China has made rapid development in the field of ultra-fast laser precision machining. In terms of scientific research, new discoveries, inventions and creations are constantly emerging. In terms of industrial applications, several companies with sales exceeding 100 million have been born, playing a pivotal role in the field of international laser processing. In order to further deepen the cooperation and exchange among domestic researchers engaged in the ultra-fast laser precision machining field, and to promote the technological advancement and industrial development of ultra-fast laser precision machining in China, the State Key Laboratory of Modern Optical Instruments of Zhejiang University combined with State Key Laboratory of Precision Optics Science and Technology of East China Normal University held the 2019 Ultrafast Laser Precision Processing Technology and Application Seminar. The conference was held in Hangzhou Yuhuang Villa from December 4th to 6th, 2019.More than 120 experts and scholars and graduate students in the field of ultrafast laser micromachining from Shanghai Optics and Mechanics Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Changchun Institute of Optics, Physics and Chemistry Institute, Tsinghua University, Peking University, Zhejiang University, University of Science and Technology of China, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Nankai University, Shandong University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Jilin University, Harbin Institute of Technology, East China Normal University and other units attended the conference. The seminar was hosted by chairman Qiu Jianrong, the professor of the College of Optical Science and Engineering of Zhejiang University. Professor Qiu Jianrong briefly introduced the purpose, agenda and specific arrangements of the conference. Then, Academician Li Ruxin, the leader of China's ultra-fast and powerful laser, delivered a speech. He introduced the history of ultra-fast laser precision machining in China, and took femtosecond laser two-photon polymerization and femtosecond laser-induced changes in the internal structure of transparent materials as examples, fully affirming the outstanding contributions of Chinese scholars in the field of ultra-fast laser precision machining. He put forward ardent expectations for researchers in related fields, and hoped that everyone can continue to push China's ultrafast laser precision machining technology and applications to the international frontier. Based on in-depth frontier research, aiming at the major needs of the country, everyone could work hard to solve the difficult problem and provide important support for the future development of the optical information society. After the speech, the invited reports of the experts showed the latest research progress of their teams, involving new phenomena, new principles, new mechanisms, new technologies and new applications in the interaction of ultrafast lasers with matter, system development of micromachining, and ultra-fast laser industrialization and many other aspects. The meeting was full of questions and heated discussions.
As summarized by Professor Qiu Jianrong in the closing speech of the conference, the successful holding of this conference demonstrated the rapid development of ultra-fast laser precision machining and the outstanding work of Chinese scholars. China is about to bring an explosion period of ultrafast laser precision machining from basic research to industrial application. We need to take a solid step on the development path of ultrafast laser precision machining.
