Congratulations! Prof. QIU Jianrong from COSE is elected as ACerS Fellow

Recently, the American Ceramic Society (ACerS) announced thenew Fellow list to commend their outstanding contributions of scientificresearch and engineering application of ceramics. Prof. QIU Jianrong from theCollege of Optical Science and Engineering (COSE) of Zhejiang University (ZJU) iselected as one of the new members.

The ACerS, established in 1898, is one of the most influence society in the field of materialsin the world with more than 12000 members. Every year, ACerS will selectseveral world-famous ceramicists with great contributions andaward them the title of Fellow. Most of ACerS Fellows are experienced scholarin the field of ceramic.




Brief introduction of Prof. QIU Jianrong:


He is the professor of the Micro-nano Photonics Institutefrom COSE, ZJU; National Outstanding Youth Fund Winner; Distinguished Professorof Yangzi River Scholars, Ministry of Education. He has won the academic awardof the Rare Earth Society of Japan, the international Otto Schott research awardof the German Abbe Fund, the academic award of the Ceramic Society of Japan andthe G. W. Morey award of American Ceramics Society. He is also the deputydirector of the committee of Optical Materials of the Chinese Optical Society, thevice chairman of the Special Glass Branch of the Chinese Silicate Society, the executiveeditor of the Laser & Optoelectronics Progress, the deputy editor of the Journalof the Chinese Silicate Society and the associate editor of six SCI journalsincluding the American Ceramic Society. His research direction is the interactionbetween laser and materials as well as the optically functional materials. Hehas published more than 600 SCI papers, cited by SCI for more than 19600 times,and published 3 monographs in English, Japanese and Chinese.
