In order to further improve fire safetywork, enhance the fire safety awareness of teachers and students, and improve ourself-defense ability, College of Optical Science and Engineering (COSE) organizeda fire safety knowledge lecture and an emergency evacuation drill on the afternoonof November 30, 2018. CHEN Jiong, secretary of the party committee of thecollege, YAO Da, member of the party committee, CHEN Zhongyun, director ofYuquan Campus Security Office, and more than 200 security personnel, teachersand students participated in the emergency evacuation drill.
In the lecture, CHEN Zhongyun introducedthe fire safety knowledge and emergency evacuation knowledge for the teachersand students of COSE, such as fire hazards, fire equipment uses, fire escapeskills, laboratory fire safety precautions. He warned students with a series ofphotos and videos: In the laboratory, improper operation or illegal use of theinstruments has potential safety hazards; it is also dangerous to usehigh-power appliances without authorization in the dormitory.
After the lecture, as the alarm sounded,the students, under the command of the security officer, masked their noseswith towels, bowed their bodies, passed the smoke, escaped the fire, and safelyarrived at the designated place in order.
On the lawn, the officer of Yuquan CampusSecurity Office introduced the use of fire-fighting equipment for teachers andstudents. Theyexperienced the use of fire extinguishers one by one, andextinguished the flames in time.
Through the fire safety knowledge lectureand fire drill, the teachers and students of COSE have learned a lot of firesafety knowledge. Their fire safety awareness has been enhanced, which solids thefoundation for building a safe and harmonious campus environment.
