Congratulations! Project Guided by COSE Won the Gold Medal of the fourth China “Internet +” College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition

In the final of the fourth China “Internet +” College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, the team from College of Optical Science and Engineering, Zhejiang University, won the gold medal with their project named “Chi-Yun Technology & National Leader of Vehicle Optical Display Technology”.

This contest attracted 2.65 million college students and 640,000 teams from more than 2,000 universities at home and abroad to participate. After the first round in college and second round in province, around 400 teams entered the final with great ambition of winning gold medal. Through fierce competition, the project “Chi-Yun Technology & National Leader of Vehicle Optical Display Technology”, led by students in our college and guided by Prof. Zhen-Rong Zheng, stood out with outstanding performance and won the gold medal.

Since 2015, the "Internet +" College Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition has been successfully held for three times. It is the largest innovation and entrepreneurship competition in the world, and also the most authoritative and most influential one in China. Until last year, the competition has appealed to 2.25 million college students and 550,000 teams participating in it. The theme of this year's competition is "Establish trends of the times with innovation and entrepreneurship; Write a brilliant life in the fertile soil of China". The competition lasted 7 months. Around 2.65 million college students, nearly 640,000 teams, from 2278 domestic universities and more than 600 overseas teams from over fifty countries participated in the competition. The scale of the competition reached a new high.

The project features Vehicle-mounted Head-Up Display (HUD) Intelligent hardware and software technology service. Through the HUD, information like intelligent navigation, mobile phone notifications, telephone and text messages can be projected directly in front of the driver’s sight, assisting the driver to drive safely. The HUD can not only connect with the car’s CAN bus, but also interact with other mobile devices via wireless or Bluetooth. Gesture recognition, infrared touch recognition and speech recognition are also supported in operation.

At present, Chi-Yun Technology cooperates with SAIC Group, Dongfeng Motor, FAW Group and other domestic independent brands of OEMs. It also works with well-known domestic and foreign automotive suppliers to develop a variety of products. In addition, Chi-Yun Technology has cooperated with the Russian National Automotive Engineering Research Institute to develop a high-performance HUD system. It also collaborates with the Korean Railways to develop a train-specific HUD system for high-speed rail, passenger and freight trains in Korea. In May of this year, the vehicle display/optical system design project of Chi-Yun Technology also won the gold medal in the 11th “Challenge Cup” College Student Entrepreneurship Competition of Zhejiang Province.
