On Oct 19, 2016, Prof. Xu Liu has been elected a Fellow of the Optical Society of America (OSA) for his “outstanding contribution in the development of 3D display, super-resolution imaging, especially the leadership in optical education and coating's industry". The OSA Fellow is awarded to OSA Members who have served with distinction in the advancement of optics. This honor is reserved to no more than 10% of the total membership.
Prof. Xu Liu obtained his BS and MS degrees from Zhejiang University in 1984 and 1986, respectively. He had his PhD from Ecole nationale superieure de physique de Marseille in France in 1990. He has been professor in the Department of Optical Engineering of Zhejiang University since 1995. His research fields are thin film optics and coatings techniques, three-dimensional display, optical imaging, and instrumentation. He is the author and coauthor of more than 200 journal papers in the above research fields.
