Congratulations to Prof. Min Qiu, who has been elected a Fellow of the Optical Society of America (OSA)!


OSA recognized Prof. Qiu "for significant contributions in nanophotonics, including photonic crystals, plasmonics and metamaterials." The OSA Fellow is awarded to OSA Members who have served with distinction in the advancement of optics. This honor is reserved to no more than 10% of the total membership.

 

 

 

Min Qiu received the B.Sc. degree from the Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China, in 1995. He obtained the Ph.D. degree in Condense Matter Physics from the same university in 1999. He received the second Ph.D. degree in Electromagnetic Theory from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Stockholm, Sweden, in 2001.
In 2001 he joined the School of Information and Communication Technology, KTH, as an assistant professor. He became an associate professor in 2005, and a full professor (Professor of Photonics) in 2009. He is now a professor at the Department of Optical Engineering, Zhejiang University. He was the recipient of the Individual Grants for the Future Research Leaders (FFL II) from the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research (SSF) in 2004.  
Prof. Qiu is an author or co-author of more than 140 international refereed journal papers, and more than 100 conference contributions, including many invited talks in many international conferences. He has an h-index of 31 up to Aug 2011. His research interests is mostly on nanophotonics, including transformation optics, optical metamaterials, photonic crystals, plasmonic optics, and integrated optical circuits.
Prof. Qiu is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the Optical Society of America (OSA), and the European Optical Society (EOS). He served in many program committees of international conferences, including Photonics Europe, APOC, AOE, etc.
