Photo Club: A Platform for Technical Discussion and Communication on Photography and Art in Our Department Set Up

The photo club of the department of Optical Engineering celebrated its birthday on Dec. 31th, 2010. Prof. Zhaofeng Cen was nominated to be the director for this photo club.
 
This club, fully supported by the student union, meets the general expectation of the students in our department for their interest in photography and art. The purpose of this club is to improve students’ photography skills through saloon and outdoor practice. At the same time, proper and effective management would be the key for its self-maintenance.
 
Prof. Zhaofeng Cen, a leading expert in photography of our department, was nominated to be the director for this club to guide the future activities and development of the club. In the meeting,, the club’s future plan and recent activities were proposed and discussed by the club associates, with Prof. Cen as the consultant. The form for the club activity was defined to be member oriented, consisiting of outdoor touring and experience sharing seminars as well as e-magazine publication termly. Prof. Cen also showed several pictures he took in Europe last year, and introduced the experience in taking those pictures and digital processing of pictures on computer. Consecutively, group members were encouraged to show their own excellent works in an easy-going atmosphere. Finally, the club’s birthday meeting ends with applause from all the students at present.
 
The Photo Club of the Department of Optical Engineering remained attractive to not only the undergraduate students but also the graduate seniors as they are now actively in joining the club. Now the club still opens to welcome new participants.
